When I say gap, I am referring to if the current futures are higher than the index fromt he closing price.

Example dow closed at 10377. futures closed at 10396.
If they are 20 points higher than the previous close the next morning then the index will open gapped up according to the futures.
 
if the pattern pans out then I will cover at 10380 on the break, but my stop remains at breakeven. We could reach as high as 425 on making the right shoulder before falling.

Kind of arbitrage, I guess. I noticed at the open is YM leading INDU, if YM trading higher then INDU will open higher, after open is INDU leading YM, right?
