...As far as the chatroom, I have done it in the past and it pretty much ends up looking like this thread with a bunch of noise to filter through, but someone set it up and I will be there...
Most likely you were in a room that either wasn't well moderated or no longer met your chat room needs.
With that said...you can setup your own room and manage it to reduce the
noise level whenver it reaches a level you consider to be either an eye sore or distraction.
It's
free and will take up less time it took you to write your prior post
http://cservice.othernet.org/?page=csregister
In addition...here are easy tips for keeping a chat room useful with good members:
* Require users to post their trades
* Password protect it while keeping it free
* Those that violate any noise level rules after a few warnings...get rid of them
* Make use of the "ignore" feature or "voice" feature to get contol the noise level
Now...if you don't want to manage the room...hand it over to someone that does and is willing to moderate it for you.
However, complaining about what another trader is saying and have no way of preventing such in the future...that can be a distraction and will increase the noise level...
Same noise level you mentioned in this thread.
Also, since you mentioned that if someone else sets it up for you...
I can do that for you guys that don't have the time to do it yourself and then hand over the password info to one of the active participants in this thread...
That way you'll be completely in control.
You can then keep it either public (anyone can log in) or private (password required).
It will also take the Othernet folks about 24hrs to reply with a notification to confirm the room has a registered
X in it for room management.
Yet, if the person with the control doesn't log in for 20 days...the room becomes unregistered and that allows anyone to take control.
Best to make several moderators instead of just one.
However, you can setup your own room on Othernet without even registering...
It's even faster.
PM me if you want me to set it up for you along with a name recommendation for the room...
It'll take me a few minutes and I'll send you the registration info as soon as the Othernet folks reply back to me (within 24hrs).
I just can't imagine any advantage to posting trades in this thread at ET in comparison to using a trade posting script that gets the job done faster and with a proper accurate time stamp...
Along with keeping an easy read journal for any viewer.
You can even set it up to work with your broker execution platform (IB users) if you can get your hands on the proper trade posting script for relaying trades as they occur to IRC.
