I have avoided unprompted gloating my entire life.
But, I really thought America was circling.

For a year or 2 they were telling us Hillary was going to win.
And, the Supreme Court would have turned into a bunch of activist lefties.
Then, incredibly, Scalia died. We were screwed. We would have kissed the Constitution good bye. Venezuela was a decade away. Freedom of speech to criticize govt policies would have been gone in 4 years. Our rights to say no when the govt forced us to create pro gay marriage cakes gone. Our right to protest liberal causes gone. Our guns were to be confiscated. We would no longer have been able to resist the authoritarian left who was Jonesing to take over as swiftly as they could.

But, Trump won and Gorsuch was major relief.
Then Kennedy retired.

Then it looked like Kavanaugh was being run out of town so the Dems could take over the Senate and consent to lefties or nothing.
Then, with great strength Trump stayed loyal and true. Bravo Mr. Trump.

Then Lindsey Graham became a hero?
And Mitch fricken McConnell stayed strong and did not sell us out?
I can' believe it.
And Susan Collins and the rest of the Republicans in the Senate.

I have to gloat.
I can't believe the Supreme Court has been saved for the next generation.
My generation can not be accused of destroying the freedoms of future generations. Although it got very close.

No.. Freddie from Canada. Now we have a chance to restore American's liberties and our economy.

I would like see the vast majority of the republican wing and the bernie wing come together on some of the big issues.

Both anti establishment republicans ( the majority of the base) and anti establishment democrats (the bernie wing) must work together to get control of the govt back to the people and promote better legislation. Right now we get overspending, overtaxing and the least effective implementation of programs.

If we are going to have crazy spending we should be getting great govt.
If we can't have great govt... lets have low taxes, small govt and guaranteed payment. Anything is better than the crap we are getting now which just serves to make the middle class poorer through inflation and high taxes.

It seems to me that a great deal of resist Trump rhetoric is just that.
What exactly is Trump doing differently that is harming any American. (other that appointing non leftist judges which may harm the interests of those interested in pre-communism)

The economy is improving. Overspending is nothing new.

Mine was that this author and I suspect his sources believe the Trump team was not ready.

I think that was clear.

But, that helped your side.
Trumps lack of team cost us on Obamacare repeal and replace and the immigration cases early on.

He should have cleaned out Obama's people from the govt.

Your side can point to precious little to be pissed off about.

I might even add since this was a gloating thread... Kavanaugh may not turn out to be much to the right of Kennedy. I am not saying this court will over rule Roe or be more conservative. I am happy as an American this Court has at least 5 justices who will follow the constitution and preserve our rights most of the time. I am sure Roberts and maybe Kavanagh or other will choose to follow progressive precedents from previous Courts (even though they may be bad law) when they wish to avoid a massive change or a constitutional crisis.
