If there were a concern regarding marketing of the property it should have been addressed as an issue regarding personal belongings... ethnicity has nothing to do with it. I'm sorry you had to experience that. We're so mobile these days that kind of thing is, unfortunately, bound to happen.

An example of subversive racism: Statistics show that blacks with comparable credentials as whites get worse loan terms. I think we all agree that bank loans should be based on ability to repay, which is predicted by income, assets, etc and not race.
