Israel ‘manipulating public opinion’ over trade ban claims: Turkey

Claims of Turkey easing its trade ban with Israel aim “to manipulate international public opinion”, the Turkish presidency’s communications directorate says.

Turkey stopped all exports and imports to and from Israel last week citing the “worsening humanitarian tragedy” in the occupied Palestinian territory.

Israel’s foreign minister earlier claimed Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan changed his position and lifted many of the trade restrictions imposed on Israel.

However, Israeli claims of Ankara easing its trade ban are “absolutely fictional and have nothing to do with reality,” Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat said.

Turkey’s trade ban will remain in place until a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and humanitarian aid flow to the region are secured, he added.
