So to quote someone else on the other thread -- 'Two days ago Palestinians raped then massacred 260 bleeding heart Israeli kids who, I am sure, en masse participated in anti-government and pro-Palestinian demonstrations and really "wanted the violence to end".' So much for these youngsters being legitimate military targets -- in fact most were aligned with Palestinian positions.

Yes, this was a Peace & Love festival filled with left-leaning youngsters supporting peace with Palestinians and opposed to the current right-wing Israeli government's position(s).

To one side they were darling Míriam and David, beloved children and to the others they are military vets, literally the people on the walls with the guns.

I have stayed in well over a hundred hostels across a score of countries. I know exactly who was at the festival and some of their peers were friends.

This is what happens when you conscript instead of carefully select. You get a lot of Bonzos who should not be in a military. There are Palestinian Bonzos also as we saw.


The Thais were probably disliked as it used to be Palestinians who did that work.

The Yawn with this is simply that the topic was conspicuously ignored all day until it was picked up by an Aussie possibly come back from the pub near his midnight. Nobody was that enthusiastic about more ME stuff.

Also @gwb-trading, I can recall Terr commenting that he was very rarely ashamed of Israel but he was after Benny visited Zelinski. Feeling shame usually implies being part of a group even if peripherally.

This is hardly a "yawn" moment for Israel; this is their 9/11 equivalent. And their response will be vigorous.

We can endlessly debate the past decades of history in the Israel/Palestinian conflict which effectively will not really be enlightening but merely an effort to rehash the past and push blame.

What is of more interest is what will occur next over the upcoming weeks in this conflict. It does lead to many questions including:
  1. What are the next steps that Israel take for an incursion into Gaza? The current steps of using air power to target rocket launchers, ammo, and the headquarters/homes of Hamas leaders are obvious. The announced step of shutting off the borders and not allowing fuel, food, and electricity into Gaza -- effectively creating a siege is obvious. But what is next after this?
  2. At this point both Hamas and Hezbollah have announced that Iran provided the planning and support for this attack. What military force can Israel dedicate to Gaza operations and still have sufficient military force in the north to deal with a possible attack by Hezbollah?
  3. Netanyahu stated this would be a long war. Will Israel need to call up it's military reserves for this conflict?
  4. Israel generally has a policy of not negotiating for hostages. A good number of the hostages are citizens of other countries (many who do not hold Israeli dual citizenships). Under pressure from other countries will Israel open negotiations to get hostages back who are citizens of other nations plus possibly elderly and children? If not most of these hostages are as good as dead already.
  5. An armed excursion into Gaza will cause thousands of civilian casualties. What steps will Israel use to minimize these casualties besides telling Gaza residents to leave certain areas?
  6. Will Israel adopt a strategy at some point to shove all 2 million residents of Gaza over the border into Israel -- creating a huge refuge crisis?
  7. Iran is obviously behind the Hamas terrorist attack. Does Israel have plans to retaliate against Iran directly?
  8. What is Israel's desired end game over the next few weeks? Beyond retaliation and dead Hamas members.

So Israeli young adults after completing their IDF compulsory years really, really like their party drugs when they leave for anywhere cheap wihb their government provided stipend; Thailand, Goa and more. A lot of them I've met had seen and done things they wanted to forget and needed a lot of drugs.

UK special forces killed nine people "in their beds" during an Afghanistan night raid, an independent inquiry has heard.

Family members say the victims were unarmed civilians. The SAS had claimed they acted in self-defence.

Senior officers suspected troops of carrying out a policy of executing "fighting age" men even if they posed no threat.

The government announced the inquiry after BBC Panorama revealed an SAS squadron killed 54 people in suspicious circumstances on one six-month tour.

As substantive hearings got under way at the Royal Courts of Justice in London on Monday, UK special forces were accused of "abusing" night raids in order to commit "numerous" extra-judicial killings - which were allegedly later covered up.

The "Yawn" is about the violence between Israel and Palestine will continue as the right wing religious orientated shit stirring Jews have no intention of being good worldly citizens and leading a good example. All Jews do is needle and provoke others because they think they are God's chosen people and therefore have more rights than others.
Their superiority attitude justifies their bullying.
In a nutshell, due to strong unshakeable religous doctrine, I can't see this ever ending.
The only way it can end is to end strong religous beliefs but I can't see how that will be achieved.
Maybe slowly society will turn more secular, but it will take many generations.
