Israel’s Foreign Minister Eli Cohen has said that Israel would continue its military operations in Gaza “with or without international support”, while Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said "nothing will stop us" even "in the face of international pressures".
This comes after Tuesday’s UN General Assembly vote, which showed that 32 countries have changed their position in the last month from the previous vote, including Canada, India, Japan and Denmark, to name just a few.
Overall, more than 153 countries demanded an immediate ceasefire in Gaza – that’s more than the 141 countries that voted to deplore Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
It speaks to their alarm about the way Israel is conducting its military operation and its compliance with the rules of war. President Joe Biden knows this - telling campaign donors just hours before the vote that Israel was starting to lose support because of its “indiscriminate” bombing of Gaza.
The resolution may not be binding but the global consensus will perhaps give US officials a further reason to be tough on Israel in private, including when Jake Sullivan travels to Israel this week.

Speaking to soldiers at a military base in southern Israel, he says Israel will "continue to the end, until the victory, until the elimination of Hamas".
Netanyahu adds: "I want to say in the clearest way what I just said to the commander in the field - we will continue to the end.
"There is no such question at all. I say this also in the face of great pain [of the fallen soldiers], but also in the face of international pressures.
"Nothing will stop us, we will go to the end, to victory, no less than that."

As more and more secular jews around the developed world find safety and prosperity in their homelands, more and more of them see Israel for what it has become. Netanyahu has no option but to resort to Russia to import new emigres and can't afford risking that....I think Arabs in Palestine & Gaza were matching birth rates in Israel up until recently (big decline in West Bank). Newborns also can't push people off their land in the West Bank as someone from a harsh country like Russia would be willing to.

It is called “jumping on the bandwagon “ in my country. People who had absolutely no interest in Middle East affairs prior to the current war have decided to side with the terrorists because television coverage of smashed buildings and bodies displayed for the cameras earn brownie points. Those people have forgotten about the massacre of the 7th October or choose to ignore it. They have chosen to ignore the fact the Palestinians don't use the tunnels Hamas dug all over Gaza to shelter in. We are aware the Hamas terrorists, led by the Hamas government won't allow the civilians in Gaza to shelter. They probably aren't aware Hamas terrorists blew up their own sewage treatment plant and that is why their toilets won't flush and they have no running fresh water. The lights go out because the Hamas government have spent the billions of dollars of aid money on weapons rather than build a power station so they have their own electricity supply, and not rely on free electricity from Israel. I have been in several wars and the opposing sides don't help each other by supplying food, water, electricity or phone coverage but the Pro- Palestinian's expect Israel to do this, and forget if the roles were reversed the Hamas terrorists would be massacring unarmed Israeli's just as they did on the 7th October. Every day since the war began Hamas has been firing rockets into Israel from Gaza. The rate of fire has slowed because Hamas is slowly losing residential areas where they can launch their rockets. Most of them are now being fired from the south of Gaza. Obviously completed rockets or the places where the rockets are assembled has moved. All this is forgotten by TV networks like AlJazeera and to a degree our own BBC. The stated aim of the terrorist organisation known as Hamas is to destroy Israel and the Pro- Supporters presumably support this belief. The aim of Israel is to destroy Hamas millitarily so the terrorists can no longer attack Israel, and presumably the Pro- Palestinian supporters are against that. The Hamas terrorists won't allow the civilians in Gaza get away from the fighting. A number Palestinians did protest because Hamas was threatening to shoot them if they tried to escape the fighting had their legs broken so they couldn't travel to the south. Presumably the Pro- Hamas supporters agree with what the terrorists do. A lot of the Pro- terrorist supporters deny the terrorists are abusing the civilian population but if that is the case why don't they take shelter ? Why don't all of them leave if they are physically able to? Why are people attacking Israel ? Probably because they can't accept war is nothing like a game of tennis. A war zone is no place for people who cannot defend themselves, but try telling the terrorists that."
