Hi - neeed to be able to eliminate my internet connection as a possible cause of problems. Can someone please attempt to download the historical data csv file from the bottom of this page (ticker PCYC)TIA

The problem is on your side, it works for me. You might've been blocked by DDoS protection due to sending too many queries in too short of a time-frame.

However, often the historical CSVs aren't correct in that the "adjusted close" isn't adjusted for dividends or splits. Yahoo seems to have multiple databases which are queried when you try to download the CSV file and some have the correct values while others do not, and there's no way to know as the URL you're displayed is always the same.

Weekly data is available up to 3/31/2014. Weekly data ending 4/6/2014 is not available(yet?) . The daily data ending 4/6/2014 is provided.
Is it typical that there is a week or more delay for the weekly data format?
I guess i could make weekly bars from daily bars but i would really like to stop
this humble attempt at programming and get on with my life. Thanks.

I cant auto load historical yahoo eod data from the current trading day until
3.5 hours from market close(8pm).
Is anyone aware of earlier free data that can be auto downloaded?
I only "get" 65 or so symbols .

but yahoo shut it down
using link above you can get whatever data 20 min after close(or in real time,if you are paid subscriber). 200 tickers per request max

you can get all data you need in one shoot, if you need it for only 65 tickers. just build one big query as in example above.i've been using yahoo EOD this way for many many years for a cross reference with other sources. 100% accurate and you don't have to wait 8 hours

There is only so much Yahoo Finance can do. It is a free service after all. The advertising it gets probably isn't enough for it to be a premier data service, though most traders have used data from the site. Remember that it has to compete with Google and Microsoft as well that are powerhouses in their own right. Google is especially hard to compete with given the cash hoard it has.
