Yahoo Finance - Volume Profile Time-Span?

Does anyone know how far back the Volume Profile (Volume at price) on Yahoo fiance charts extends back to?

The reason I ask is that a premium provider Interactive Brokers provides a volume histogram (same thing as volume profile) but the most it's volume profile can reference volume from is a maximum of 2 weeks prior. So now I'm wondering how far back Volume Profile on yahoo finance charts extends back to?

I think it's important to know.

I use volume by price on stock charts.com, and it’s measurement is specific to the time frame of the chart.

so if I want to look at the last 7 days of AAPL it’ll show me the VBP bars for those 7 days etc etc
 
Thanks.. That's strange.
A premium provider like Interactive broker provides a 2 week span and that's it.
Maybe that's the maximum one needs, I'm not sure.

Don’t think IB is considered a premium provider.

Their not in the data business nor do they seem to want to be with some of their real time streaming limitations and backfill requests.

IQFeed, Esignal and many others are in the data business.

Huh? Nooo.. Volume by Price is important for any time frame the speculator is eyeing.

For example If I'm trading weekly butterflies in AAPL I'll peep to see what price range has the highest liquidity. Then I'll even zoom out to longer time frames to see the long term volume by price ranges. These ranges work for years to months, weeks, days, hours, minutes. And of course this range acts as support/resistance and reflection areas where price likes to oscillate around for periods of time to eventually break out of that range (after the order flow kings finish accumulating shares/ and market makers books are ready) to another volume by price value area, rinse and repeat.

If you sign up for stockcharts (which I highly recommend) I use this site strictly for the visual aspect of charting. No other software looks as clean and crips as stockcharts.com. I like thinkorswim charting but it still isn't better than stockcharts.com.

Stockcharts.com also released a new "ACP" option where they developed a new UI for users to work on charts more quickly and swiftly. This is the option that allows me to transition my timeframes easily and the Volume by Price bars automatically update with each new time frame i choose.

I agree that Volume Profile should be valid for what you're viewing. That's why I thought it strange that volume prof on IB work station only covered 2 weeks. Its a shame.

I'll take a look at Stock Charts. I had trouble bringing up Aussie sticks today but I'll give it another go.

I use VbP included with SierraChart. Each instance of VbP (multiple VbP studies on a single chart is allowed) has user-defined settings that allow for total customization including number of bars, time period, start and end times, specific volumes, value areas, points of control, and more.

However, you need to hook up a data provider. GIGO (Garbage In Garbage Out) applies. Many data sources are supported.

fwiw... Sierrachart main offices are in New Zealand.

From what I can see, the best value is TradingView by far. StockCharts is based on tradingview. If I wanted to go higher end I would just get Iguana Spark here in Australia.

Has anyone used TradingView? Any comments on that? Thanks

Costs and fees by default do not mean premium or high end.

Your definitions of "premium" and "high end" are quite different than those of traders in other countries. Spark covers only 2 markets btw.

Ok, good point. I suppose I'm thinking in terms of features. I really only want to trade stocks at this stage and yes I was also looking at the price. Spark is expensive at $200 AUD per month. I think that's expensive anyway.

Tradingview seems to have a pleathora of features. I might start a different thread for questions from Australians who use that because I'm a little off topic now.
