Nice story, as credible as the UFOs you sighted last weekend. Take a look at what the article states where the picture was taken in your link (Photo: Massachusetts police search a home after the Boston bombings.). And it was not Google that tipped off the police but the husband's employer. To be honest, I thank God that companies, NSA, whoever will pay a visit to fired employees who search prior to their release for: “pressure cooker bombs” and “backpacks.” (official search terms used and documented in official police records).

I highly dislike conspiracy theorists. Not because they believe in whatever, but because they make up lies, they scare others of lower intellect with their bullshit, and because they push up prices of bottled water, grenades and rifles.

P.S.: By the way, you think your country, my country, any damn country on this globe has not spied and checked on its own people? Its not news buddy, it existed since the start of life on this planet. (It happened well before and during the Roman empire, in most Asian empires, in all communist countries, in the U.S. during the independence and civil wars, during the McCarthy era, and today. My post was addressed at people of apparent low intelligence who believe stories on conspiracy theorist web sites and spread lies and fake stories WHILE AT THE SAME TIME the official police report is publicly available. Of course the police report could be made up my aliens right?

Nowhere did I state that I only see benefits of the current war on information. There are drawbacks as well, and such government programs must be internally audited and monitored on a regular basis. I said years ago that the global competition for top technology and arms soon will turn into the quest for who controls and manages information the best and here we are. This next 25-50 years will all be about information. Live with it or suck it up and complain for the rest of your life. Nobody got arrested for searching for backpacks here or pressure cooker but someone was questioned because he searched on his work computer for "pressure cooker bombs". If you have an issue with police following up on that then maybe you should have stood there at the Boston marathon where the bombs exploded. This is ALL I am saying, NOT MORE, not less.

NSA just announced that they are firing 90% of system administrators and replacing them with machines. They do not want anybody watching or monitor.

Yet those guys in Boston were not being followed despite official warnings and their activities that clearly indicated potential issues.

Visiting innocent people because of searches like that uncovers true face of this "spying" program. It is aimed at general public to keep them in line so they use only politically correct phrases and behave under threat of intimidation.

My previous comment was not personal. I am just trying to point out that this program is a miss and a failure because criminals and cybercriminals are not afraid of it and terrorist are laughing at NSA.

For those of pretty low intelligence, here is how you can follow along. We do not discriminate here based on height!

If the media identifies a group as a conspiracy - that is bad, stay away! If the media identifies a group as a cartel - that is good, envy them for they are smart businessmen. If the media doesn't talk about them at all -watch out - don't you talk about them either!

Intelligence (like the politicians they work for) is not just gathering but swaying public opinion. Witness all the surveys of people prefer to be spied on but the dropping of popular opinion polls for the president for example. (A potential divergence?) Also, the posters who appear to take stands against popular opinion. AKA sockpuppets who one day will likely be shown to be working for the "intelligence" agencies as PR folks. After all they would be just copying companies who apparently have "post correctors" for wikipedia and bulliten board postings. Surely the government has thought of this also.

My personal favorite is the re-writing of history. Why does Andrew Jackson's face appear on money? Why does the TV world show police walking in unarmed to a armed suspect and calming him down as he sobs. Some utube videos show 87 bullet shots on unarmed bad guys and dogs being shot to death for no good reason. To be fair, police do a great job in many situations every day that don't make utube. The truth is a whole lot more complex than the pap on TV that people think is real life.

One problem is the blurring of reality and truth and the difficulty people already have telling the difference. Like any weapon in the right hands it's a good thing, and the in the wrong ones a tyranny. Which will come? Say tuned for I don't know.

Look at the story about the backpack, the truth has been twisted by a low rep web site to absurdity and every lemming on this thread took it for reality and the truth. Almost bizarre how easily people belief crap as long as it appears to be up their alley.

Boston - disagree - it is a total failure lets admit it. To regain some credibility they go after innocent people and shake grandmas at airports. It is just media stunt. They cannot catch determined criminal or terrorist. It is incompetence and waste of money. Mostly it is used for politics and propaganda purposes.

Banks, public companies and government should by design hire people from the street in open and transparent hiring process so those guys know that general public is watching - no family, friends, friends of friends, internal audits, "independent" auditors etc.

I agree that public places and public communications should be under surveilance for the benefit of general public safety and security. Most people have nothing against it including myself. It has even clear economic benefit.

I cannot resist one comment that probably will make you mad. This government is using tax money to pay government trolls to post on social media, blogs etc. At times you sound like one. Just say you are not working for .gov
