Anyway, trade it like any other futures/CFDs;
up trend - buy low sell high
down trend - sell high buy low
no trend -sit on your hands

IB withdrew from the US retail forex market back in 2016.
Per Google;
Interactive Brokers Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: IBKR), has notified its clients that starting September 1st 2016 only people with assets of over $10 million will be allowed to open leveraged forex positions with the firm.
Options appear to be either find a US Forex broker that offers the market you want to trade, or pick something close like Gold futures offered by IB. - Lou

Just log into your IB account, search for XAU/USD, and hit trade. Make sure your funds cover it. Any issues, give IB a shout for help. your question is too general.
Nope. I had tried that already.
only XAUUSD is available, as commodity and CFD.
make sure your permission for trading Metal commodity, CFD is configured and approved by IBKR.
