Well, since those Democratic Party Senators come from rural states with high percentages of gun owners with very high public opinion polling for 2nd amendment rights - states like Arkansas, Nevada, and Alaska, no clear thinking person would say that they would survive re-election campaigns in 2014 if they did vote "Yes". And if you read "Politico" and "The Hill" on a regular basis those seven senators are already saying words to the effect that they cannot support the President's proposals and exective orders as the President has stated them and would not without a great deal of compromise.
In other words, if Harry Reid and the Senate Democratic Caucus cannot find the votes to support the President's proposals, then it will never see a vote in in either chamber. Simple fact.
Look, even when this dies in committee, there is now a much greater chance that Obama will lose the Senate over this in 2014. And Republicans will pick up seats on this in the Congress.
Alot of registered Democrats own guns quite honestly.
