I just heard Sean Hannity on radio say (talking about the Fed):
"Has monetary policy been a disaster? YES! Is the Fed horrible? YES! Was Ron Paul correct about ABOLISHING the Fed? Maybe."
WTF is going on here? How did big government neocons, loving the big centralized state, glorifying war and putting "nation in front of the individual" turn into real conservatives? Don't they realize that NeoCon Bush was really Obama jr.? Bush, the guy who doubled the debt, the guy who expanded governemnt off of Clinton levels to record spending levels, the guy who took a fat shat on civil liberties, started secret prisons, rendition, abolished habeaus corpus (due process around since the Magna Carta!!!), the guy who started wars like a chain smoker lights cigarretes.
The Republicans are now starting to actually come back to their small government roots? I highly doubt it. Consider me skeptical. This is just rhetoric. The Republicans are big government neocons. Everyone of thier "leaders" are neocons.
They just notice that there is a movement going on. The movement of the teaparty, the movement of small government and liberty. And they are moving their rhetoric to that side to take advantage.
Here is my guess, the Republicans will talk great of small government, of anti-fed and hard money, of low taxes and low spending and low regulations. And get this! Just take a second to get this. I think that their rhetoric is starting to pull away from pro-war monger to anti-war, to anti-patriot act and pro civil liberties. I think they will move their rhetoric more and more towards that way.
Basically, they are all moving towards a Ron Paul, to Rand Paul to Mike Lee, to Connie Mack, etc. At least rhetorically. Inside the Republican leadership is still neocon to the bone. And they will eventually give you Bush's twins as presidential candidates: either Romney or Perry. Literally impossible to tell the difference between Perry/Romney and Bush.
