Latimer invented the practical carbon filiment lightbulb. He successfully patented it. Strictly speaking Edison only came up with an (inferior to Latimer's) filiment as 40 years earlier a platinum filiment vacuum sealed electric light was created. It was a bit expensive.

Humphrey Davy invented the first electric light in 1802. He was white.

There are about 20 people that "claimed" to have invented the light bulb after that.

It's so typical of leftists to try to rewrite history to try to make certain races feel like they accomplished something when they obviously didn't.
