Okay. But let's examine this. This could be a good thing.

Note that - according to the article- it is not just a preferred pronoun thing - it also requires you to use their preferred name. So, for example, if I am working as a low life clerk at the Department of Motor Vehicles in California (a state agency so they would clearly need to follow the law) and I come in the next day and announce that my preferred name is "Your Highness" then my supervisor and the public now need to address me as "Your Highness."

Where am I going wrong here?
