AP History is a national curriculum - we have discussed it in detail in earlier threads.
I have used it as context as one of the items that has changed - I never implying that AP History was a state standard. I will note the U.S. AP History test no longer includes any questions about the details of the U.S. Civil War,
Now you go find me a single history course taught in K-12 classes in North Carolina where the curriculum discussed the Civil War in detail with dates, names, battles, etc.). At least a mention of Gettysburg and Lincoln's address there, eh? This seems like an important historical detail.
All of this was taught in my history classes in Long Island when I was in Jr. High School (now known as Middle School) and High School. All of our American history classes discussed the battles, generals (Grant, Sherman, Lee, etc.), dates, and politicians (Lincoln, Davis, etc.) involved in the Civil War. Can someone explain why all of this has been scrubbed from history classes across most of our nation.
While the fourth grade curriculum focuses on North Carolina, the fifth grade curriculum focuses on the United States. Students begin their studies with American Indian groups indigenous to the United States before the arrival of European settlers and conclude with the Civil War and Reconstruction period.

It means studying the Civil War and the facts about it. I have family in NC and they fucking know what the hell the Battle of Gettysburg is...
Just because your schooling was deficient, do not try to project based on some bullshit from the AP test. AP test is a national private entity that has nothing to do with the State Board of Education. I showed you proof NC teaches the Civil War.
