Wow. EU steals 10% of bank deposits in exchange for bailout

Quote from smallStops:

Don't worry about people in France. All the other countries have to be dealt with first. From the moment people can talk, this is the first song learned:

http://www.marseillaise.org/english/translation.html?liberal

....
Citizens take up arms
Form your battalions
March, march
Spill the enemy's blood
Over the land
...
What do this horde of slaves,
Traitors and conspiratorial kings want?
For whom have they wrought their vile iron chains?
Frenchmen this outrage is prepared for us!
What can we do to stop them in their plan
To return us to the slavery of an evil past
....
...

no wonder that apparently the one-term president
wanted to change the national anthem.lol.

This song is more appropriate

Utter BS, I wonder how many french know La Marseillaise, and definetely very few young kids. I remember when there was a fuss in french media because most of the national football team players wouldn't sing along the hymn.

Many things are a bit weird in France, in a bad way, but kids do learn christmas songs and similar before bloodthirsty nationalist propaganda. Also the country is far from the worst in matters of nationalism.

Quote from dealmaker:

Don't know about Taiwan but Hong Kong and Singapore suffer from the same disadvantages as Cyprus i.e. small countries, relatively small population, over sized banking sector and few natural resources ( Cyprus at least has some agriculture) with all that said since they are both predominantly Chinese, China will probably bail them out in case of a disaster as Russia may bail out Greek Cypriots ( their distant cousins, both are Slavic nations with Orthodox faith).
Look during the credit crisis Switzerland was hanging at the edge of precipice if the Fed had not loaned them twice very large sums they might have gone under. I am not implying SwiTzerland is Cyprus, Swiss have Nestle, Sandoz, Rolex but they also have UBS and CS.

Thanks Dealmaker, I read your first post on the merits of keeping money in the banks of larger countries with a diversified economy after asking. It makes sense, yet the threat of capital controls is ever increasing in the EU, especially for individuals.

This anthem was written when some kings were going under the guillotine for tyranny, and other "let them eat cakes"

The road outside #Cyprus parliament is now closed because soon to be jobless Laiki bank workers were attacking politicians

:D

Uh yeah, it's a pretty strong nationalist song ( I personally despise it).

On a side note, here's the parody from latmatv

You are being VERY unfair here.
People in France are not responsible for what is happening in the Middle East - this is mostly the American fault in not planning the situation well, and ensuring the security.
