Would you pay $27,000 for software?

Quote from nitro:

It's not even close to being the most expensive software for traders. For example, take a look at Orca for options traders. The main module is like $50k, and then each module after that is like $10K.

$27K is a pittance if it does even close to everything you say it does, but your post is somewhat confusing...

nitro

Orca's stuff is on the lower-end of enterprise desktop, price-wise. Take a look at anything from Thomson, etc. Their stuff starts at $250k for 10 users.

riskarb you're making me really jelous..

actually how is its licencing processed?

man I could just imagine what I could do with it live..

student version still useful for the macros and language.. but all the fun bits are not included.. not a single add-on.. no econ, backtesting, simulationg etc..
and all the VaR analytics.. it's like having a whole mid-office team working for u..

The VaR alone would make you wet-yourself. Understand that my license is old and no longer supported. The brute-force stuff is so elegant and mind-blowing fast. I don't know how they currently handle the licensing fees. Write them an email and say you're from an fund. =)

There is a guy in Russia that will unlock the student version... lol

I went from listed to OTC a while ago. Worked for three named funds and now work for some vcap guys in SF who have a offshore fund as a side. I've traded exotics for the last two years.

In the list of clients didn't see anyone like SAC mentioned. Wonder what software they use for TA. :) Thanks for the links to the student version, etc.
Now I see Tudor Proprietary Trading :)

While at Carnegie-Mellon Jay worked as a programmer for Computer Science Department faculty on NSF funded research projects.
