Would you day trade using a wireless connection?

Up until now I have not done any day trading. I have been swing trading and my connection hasn't been as important.

I am looking into futures day trading/scapling. One of my concerns is my internet connection at home. My only available option is 4G wireless service from a national carrier.

My speeds are decent ( 8-12mbps down/ 3 to4 mbps up) and my ping is around 50ms.

I am not too concerned about internet outages- I have a pretty good setup and have never lost my connection.

Is 4G good enough for my needs or should I look into setting up in town somewhere? A nearby town has fiber internet @ 1GBps with really low ping rates. If needed I could find some sublet office space and trade from town.

I would not trade with out a backup internet connection. Can you not get satellite internet where you are at ?

Yes, I can get satellite but the ping times are over 1000ms which makes it useless for daytrading.

I currently use Sprint 4G (it works great here). I could get a backup Verizon 4G connection if needed.

I do!

But I am old school and only have a single 1 min line chart with volume and under 30 symbols in a quote sheet with just the last price and % change.

On the other hand I do not chase anything and let orders sit for hours. If my quotes were a few seconds behind it would not effect me.

Speed is not a edge that you want to rely on.
