You are right.Would have been better if I closed positions more aggressively earlier in the drop. Like most people, I thought I had more time and also a bit of loss aversion. Most important lesson I learned from this though is don't risk holding weak positions. Only hold the best and strongest growth companies with good earnings. Look at how well AMZN and MSFT have held up relative to XLU, the utility ETF which dropped about 20% in a week. That's supposed to be defensive! I don't even want SPY. I'd rather just buy the strong companies that held up the best now and outperformed by the widest margin during the past 5 years. The FANG stuff. No reason to own anything else although some of the stuff that got absolutely killed might come back quickly depending on what happens.
