You know the citizens are not all that smart nor do we pay attention to the real issues. Most of us get our "politics" from the MSM, especially TV. The Social Security and Medicare programs should have been revamped 40 years ago when it became clear the Ponzi nature of their adminstration would lead to failure.

How do you (1) get the hoi polloi to recognize the problem, and (2) get the enough citizens to demand proper changes? The Boomers aren't that smart.

Think back to before we had social support programs. "Nobody got anything" from the government along those lines... at least not in the sense we see today. Then one day, some Leftist politico said, "let's give the people a little bit, and they'll gratefully vote for us." Later, "give more of them a little bit". Then, "give them a little more". The people never demanded it... they weren't that brash. But the politicos kept giving and giving (and taking powers not authorized in the Constituion) until we're in the mess we are today. Most people don't realize... but in the strict sense of the intentions of the Founders, ALL WEALTH REDISTRIBUTION FEDERAL SUPPORT PROGRAMS ARE UNCONSTITUTIONAL! (We have a LOT of "unconstitutional these days.)

Americans are quite intelligent. They're just fed lies. Armies of doctors, accountants, managers, computer programmers, lawyers. These are smart people. They're just fed lies and propaganda. If the truth gets in their hands, we get a different country.

I'm suggesting it's time to take action. Get involved in local, state and federal politics, and expose these liars and snakes for what they are. That means going after MSM, as well.

Not really. Just change the Congress rules here and there to make an efficient smooth running, efficient machine. At the moment it is looking very constipated and nothing worthwhile gets accomplished.

I would agree with your point to try to stop competitors " thieving " US technology, especially weapons tech. But the people involved are likely to sell their expertise to anyone willing to pay. As has happened with nuclear tech in N. Korea etc.

Odumbo's big theme last night in the SotU address is taking it out on immigration. The US is one large immigrant nation! Pulling up the drawbridge never did any good and all the old castles are in ruins trying that move.

If it doesn't effectively compete any more then upgrade quickly imho or lose the race. Or come second.

While the US is driven by fear and personal greed there is small chance of productive change.

Uh, no. The last thing we need is a hyperactive Congress, passing more laws and killing more freedoms than they do now. And by its nature (and design, fortunately), the government will never be a super efficient machine. The economy does better in times of gridlock, and silly, arbitrary measures (the Top "XX" have the same wealth as the bottom "XX") aren't helpful at all.

Some Americans are intelligent... most of us aren't. Sheesh, only about 30% of registered Repubs voted in 2012. If 50% had voted, perhaps we'd be rid of Odumbo today...

What to do?.... you know politicians aren't going to take any action until "they have no choice and we're in the middle of a crisis". Messing with (reducing) entitlements, SS, and Medicare are a political no-no. The party deemed responsible for the reductions will surely get wiped out in the next election. How smart is THAT? Anyone with half-a-brain and who has paid attention KNOWs significant reductions are necessary.

Yes end social security. While we are at it, end the VA hospitals, stop paying money to retired soldiers. Along with medicare, medicaid, food stamps. Yes go ahead and piss on the soldiers that made a sacrifice to this country to made the Defense companies rich, well we already piss on them, now the next move is to kick them out of their homes.
