Don't you think the government gives an awful lot to the parasite class?

The main reason 3.5 billion make $1 a day is because of the widespread belief that wealth is obscene.
Entrepreneurship and capital formation is what creates wealth, wealth is what funds investment, investment is what funds business and growth, business and growth is what creates and retains jobs, jobs are what pay wages, wages are what allow people to live at a reasonable level and then save for the future to become wealthier. Therefore a social framework that encourages entrepreneurship and capital formation will lead to people becoming better off; and one that discourages it will create poverty. That is the lesson of history.
Luckily, people running countries like China, India, and some other parts of the 3rd world have realised that fact and billions are climbing out of poverty as a result. Sadly some people in the west with a poor grasp of economics remain opposed to this, because they would rather feel good by indulging in their pet utopian dreams than allow an idea they dislike to make billions of poor people richer - the facts be damned.
Inequality doesn't matter - if I am 6 foot tall, I don't become any shorter because my neighbour is 6 foot 6.

The problem is that the government is very inefficient at delivering things, due to the jobsworth mentality, and the lesser incentives for high performance. Inefficiency means higher costs and worse service - the opposite of what you are proposing. It has been proven time and time again that the profit motive and the effects of competition, within a reasonable legal/regulatory framework, deliver far more effective products and services at better costs. That is why practically the entire world followed the lead of the US and UK in privatising numerous businesses and services in the 80s, 90s and beyond. It is ignorant and economically illiterate to propose a return to the dark ages where it took 3 months to get a phone line installed and you could have any colour as long as it was dull grey.
As for doing what you love - that is called a hobby, generally hobbies don't make you a living. The idea that doing what you love is a basis for work is an irresponsible utopian pipe dream. Work is not what is most fun, it is what is useful to society and what you are good at (although it's better if you get satisfaction from your work). If people simply did what they loved, 40% of the population would be jerking off to porn and drinking booze all day long instead of doing something productive, the other 60% would be turning out shitty 'novels', doggerel verse, crappy watercolours, or travelling around the world, or playing sports very badly. Work for a living, leisure for pleasure. Yes, it's not good to do jobs you hate, but if you expect to love work in all aspects then you are in for a rude awakening. Work is like exercise or dieting - it can be annoying and unpleasant at times, but you feel much better once you've done it, and from time to time you can get into it and enjoy it once you've up and running.
In spite of Socialism, Communism and the other isms of that ilk having catastrophic failures all around, America has it now because greedy and power hungry politicos recognize it's an "easy sell" to the hoi polloi. "Vote for me and I'll give you money." And the parasites, not caring that the money has to be taken from another citizen, are down wid dat.
Who cares if the country goes to shit so long as the politicos get theirs.
If you started out with 0 money, with no education, you could at the very most get a dead end job that would only pay you enough to survive, but not enough to save. Then again, being the immoral little shit that you are, you would probably prostitute yourself, and maybe a 'sugar daddy' would pay your bills if you rim his asshole good enough. Then I can see you saving some money and investing it into yourself through education.
If somebody took all your cash and equity, and you couldn't get a job because you have no resume, you'd be sucking dick for survival the moment somebody offered you money. People like you live in a bubble and know nothing about reality. Yuppie scum.
There are tends of thousands who have proven that this is a bunch of tripe. This includes many who came off boats to the U.S. with nothing but the shirts on their backs. And "Yuppie scum"? What are you doing here? Go to a more suitable website, maybe a place where eternal "victims" can make excuse after excuse for their failures.
As for "jobs," we live in an information age where no one should be truly unemployed. Anyone with a bit of drive and an internet connection (try the local library) can find something to do.
