I like your outlook on this business and the outcomes of running a group are very true. I just don't agree with the aspect that extra hours won't help and that you know everything you need to about trading. I think our business is a continuing education. You can always raise your game by pushing. Not being critial - just giving you something to think about.

I am hurting too and am pushing through with my group. They can be a distraction and do deter from my trading at times which I knew would happen. As you did.

How many guys are in your group? Going after generic is a good strategy - sure anyone can walk out the door and find a better deal but as a group manager it is our job to find talent and get them working for our future. Worldco got big because walter went out and got smart people (except to work in MIS).

Whoever made that comment about pissing contest - we were given our position to grow a group so attacking the competition is a viable strategy.

It was I who made the comment. That's just the way I see it. You may not. However, while some people are spending their time trying to launch an assault on the competition, the rest of us are busy making money.

I don't understand why you are constantly trying to go after Don Bright customers. To me it is a waste of time because you both are in two complete different markets. Those who don't have $25,000 can not even consider Don Bright and those that do have $25,000 and live in NYC or surrounding area probably wouldn't consider Bright NYC office since it is nearly vacated and has absolutely no mentor in the office. If you want to go after business than I believe Generic would be your prime target.
 
I thought I did label Generic trading as my prime target. I completely gave up on any recruiting effort on Bright once I found out the scale of their operation in New York. Still, I can't help it but to poke Don Bright every now and then because he is err so vocal on those boards.

I did get a couple of requests from Bright traders but they are all far far far far away from New York, and I basically just forwarded them to our recruiting department. It seems I can't start a war with Don Bright even if I want to, as you can't fight an army that has no troops in your area. I mean afterall I am not a co-owner of Worldco like Don is with Bright, getting 10 traders into other branches will do me no good.

That said I really have my hands full as a few other guys are close to completing their 7's, with already 8 people under my guidance, it is quite a bit for me to chew, so I may have to delay any serious assault until I can digest what I already have.

Don't get me wrong, I DO put a lot of time into my own trading everyday (I stay in the office until 7PM most of the days, not uncommon to stay past 8-9), but it is just that I am seeing so little improvement. I am very patient and will just wait it out. Yes I can try to push my size and such but I have to do it when I am comfortable, this is not something you can rush through.

OK, sorry for being late in my response to this one. We have not paid any fines. As you pointed out, we were unaware of registration policies in Massachusetts (way back), and we were told to register, which we did.

I am not trying to be "goody goody" on this point, but when a firm is a prominent as we are, we do our very best to not get headlines that say they were fined $175,000 for breaking NASD rules, it makes one wonder about the rest of their practices.

To Hitman: I really don't mind the feisty nature of your "assaults" on us, and I have not brought up any of the "dirt" like fines on your firm or anyone else's. The NYC marketplace is competitive, and we have lowered rates to compete for the good traders. We do not want the traders who have not managed to hold on to any money, and we are actually glad to see that you helping to "grow the industry" by giving those with no capital a place to trade. Good luck with "operation Generic" -- I'm sure you're aware of Ron Scheer's history on the AMEX(the CEO of Generic) and his "feistiness" (if that's a word) in the Global marketplace.So keep up the good nature (it's much more appealing than your "dark side"), and we'll see you soon!

like i said in my previous post i am on Bright's side in both cases. i certainly do not recommend paying fines in either case. my point was if bright had chosen some type of "settlement" i wouldn't have blamed you. Therefore, i would probably extend that same attitude to Worldco regarding the fines that hitman referred to.
 
I understand what you're saying. When the fines are in the $hundreds of thousands, however, wow....kind of like the NASDAQ when they paid something like $ 1 Billion in fines themselves (I guess they have to get the money back somehow!)...:-)

Do me a favor, let's change the name of this thread to something besides WorldCo.....:-)

Your right Don, it's not like we are talking about Worldco or anything. :confused:

Maybe we should name it, WorldCo. --> brought to you by Don Bright... We should probably just put that after every thread on the board. Or should we just re-name the board Don Bright's Elite Trader board?

Don, nothing personal, but please see through my sarchasm to see the point that for some reason you have to put Bright in every post here and get the Bright name mentioned as much as possible, don't you feel like you are possibly doing some overkill here? You even have a post somewhere telling everyone that you were getting on a plane and would not be able to post for a little while. WOW! I'm so glad you told us, we would have been so worried if we didn't see you pop up every 10 minutes. Seriously, did we need to know that? Or was it just another opportunity to tout the seminar you were travelling to and try to fill more seats at the seminar?

So sorry that you are wasting your time in a thread that does not start out with a Bright advertisement in the title. I think the name is appropriate, everything I have read here relates to Worldco, and the title is just fine with me.

My humble opinion.
