Working at Lightspeed-Client Service Representative

I'm pretty confused with how this isn't a fair and standard list of job expectations. I do not work in this industry, but it looks like if you have 3+ years of experience (this isn't an entry level job) and have Series 7 and Series 63 (which implies not entry level) that you could apply. The other requirements are pretty subjective/soft in my opinion. I don't know, if it paid 75K, I'd think this was a great opportunity for someone. Maybe I've seen enough wish lists on job descriptions that I have lost perspective, but I felt it's pretty reasonable, personally.

To get an internship as an actuarial student you need a 3.7+ GPA, 2 to 3 exams passed, an internship (yes, a true circular problem), for many insurance companies you need to be from a top tier school, and that gives you $25 an hour and a 2/3 chance of a full-time offer of 65K to 70K after the 10 weeks are up.

I did find the analogy to modern women quite funny though, hahaha

These comments are a little out there. This is simple. If I can help someone looking for this role, unemployed or looking to move, that is great. If I can find a good person I want to work with, great! If the job does not interest you, DON’T apply. In 2016 before I joined Lightspeed, I applied for these roles at IB and Wedbush. I wanted a job and health insurance. I felt wherever I went I would do well. I know what I’m capable of, they don’t. IB would not interview me. They said I was over qualified. There way of saying I’m too old. Wedbush almost hired me but then had staff cut backs. Not everyone is looking for the perfect job that pays $500k. Some people just want a job, place to go with good people and a pay check. And when you are not willing to relocate, not always that easy.

I do not know the salary of our trade support guys . None of my business. Right now, we need at least one more person. That person will require training on our systems and learn how to work in a small group. Regulators require the licenses to deal with customers. The biggest obstacle is, it is not 100% remote. The trade desk comes in 2 to 3 days a week. You need a car to get to Morristown, NJ. I think a college grad that tried a prop firm or prefers working for a smaller company, would like this job. Same for someone with more experience that does not want to commute to NYC. The guys on the desk are great. They seem happy. When I left NYU, while in grad school at NYU nights, I took a job on the AMEX floor that started at $250/week in 1982. I did not care about the money. I wanted to learn the business. You be surprised at the number of people that go to banks and larger brokers and feel lost. You will not get lost here.

@robert, I'll send you an email.

I was going to say you with 30+ years of floor trading experience applying to IB??!! You should see the kind of people that I deal with at IB. You should at least be the VP at IB. Glad IB saw that way and decided not to exploit you.

In 2016, I was 56 years old. Very few firms want to hire a 56 year old. I wanted to work and needed insurance. IB was not at the top of my list, but they are always hiring. I live 20 min from Greenwich.

The insurance is very good- Aetna.

Overall it's a good job, good for somebody who are just starting out but for somebody who has actual trading experience and licenses and a degree, the speculated salary level of 50K-60K is low a bit.

With the type of trading experience that you have, honestly I thought you would be trading for yourself. 56 is not old at all for trading. People in their 70's and 80's still trade.
