well. sort of, can be a pain in the ass...i saw a documentary about hosts and what they got to do...not me cup of tea but it's the most envious and best paid job in the industry...u are respected and, well....the tips can be awesome...i saw a fella in this documentary "acceptin'" a $300k tip, go figure.

How many "hosts" actually make it to that level? It's hard to imagine more than one or two at the big player casinos and maybe one or none at the smaller places.

nah, many many more..doc i saw was about mirage if i recall correctly and there were quite a few of 'em. casino has at least 20 whales, small and big, per nite and each one of 'em has his own host. it's tough to get promoted tho, the job requires immense patience and interaction skills and it's the pinnacle of a casino guy's career. in that documentary there was a fella that just begun as a dealer and was quickly promoted as a host [matter of a couple months or so] but his dad was already one so he got a favor...another woman that worked there for a decade and was in charge of overseein' a pit was very angered to see that happenin' but heck that's how it works everywhere innit.
edit; now i remember...it was the golden nugget not the mirage. 2 young fellas just took over the place.
Not just the hosts, but it's amazing how far these casinos go out of their way for these "whales"... I think the borgotta will send a private jet to your location to pick you up, once you get to the casino, you have a fleet of luxury rental cars at your demand for free (at least i think its free) because they know you're gonna drop alot of money in their pockets.

also the golden nugget...the owner sent HIS private jet to a client cuz his plane was on a delay. obviously u and i would do the same in their shoes innit.
