Why would the Fed feel the need to do that? BoJ can already do that, can they not? They added a load of liquidity today already.
If JPY collapsing I could see the point of an overseas buyer to firm up the yen, but I'm not sure I see the logic of this potential Fed move.

Why not? Fed has already did everything else. Why not this just for liquidity's sake?
