Wonder how long the government will allow this to go on

Arent we all? Is fiat paper not comprised of matter as well?

I think you know why. So I wont play into the coyness.

Gold is currency only by fiat as well. As for paper, is anyone still using that?

Only for the last 1000 years. With many uber failures of fiat in between the 11th century and today. gold has has not failed to my knowledge. Ever.

Paper? Fuck yeah. I take out some pocket money every week. Many of the good restaurants where i live are cash only. All the big stuff and my monthly bills get charged for free points that I convert to fiat and may or may not convert to GC...:D

A smart man holds both.

Years ago I asked Jimmy Rogers that if I went into a foreign country with a gold bar and wanted to sell it then where could I do that and get the spot price.

He hemmed and hawed around but he couldn't answer the question.

Later on I read that some banks buy the stuff but i never learned what they paid for it.

I haven't looked at a chart for it recently, but I did hear that palladium has been a better "store of value" than gold lately.

Why would someone give you the spot price, so they could turn around on the exchange and sell it for no gain? They would be going through a big hassle for you for nothing. Your bank doesnt convert currencies for you at market price either, so what you asked him was really pretty stupid.

I would take the 1-2% hit a guy would need to take if he wanted to convert to cash, over the consistent unending destruction of the dollars value any day.
