Wonder how long the government will allow this to go on

ATM that would make it easy to make transactions using Gold, no way the government will allow this thing to stick around.

This May Look Like a Normal ATM Machine — Trust Us, It’s Not (and a Few Key Words on It Give It Away)

It may look like a normal ATM machine gracing the New York City streets — but it most definitely is not, as noted by local blog Scouting New York.

Scouting New York’s Nick Carr wrote on his website that he was looking for office space when he “happened to walk by Stack’s Rare Coins shop” and notice “what looked sort of like an ATM out front.”

As it turns out, it was an ATM machine — just not an ordinary one.

It dispenses gold.

According to Carr, individuals simply insert a credit or debit card and are presented with several options to purchase gold.

1 ounce is priced at about $1,325, 10 grams at $490 and 5 grams at $255 (prices are based on realtime value and updated several times a minute).

After selecting an option and completing payment, the ATM machine dispenses your choice of either gold or silver coins.

They should also sell leather pouches, so you could fill it with coins, go to the pub across the street, toss it on the bar and yell, "wench, wine!"

Oh, and drive a dirk into the bar for good effect!

I find it humorous how bad the thought of an independent currency, outside of the governments control, irks your big government keynesian mind.

Doesn't concern me in the least. Should one gain traction the government will nip it in the bud. We're a nation, not a bunch of clans.

You see it as necessary for the government to control a currency in order to maintain a nation where as history has shown government's control of the currency is one of the things that most often leads to the destruction of the nation.

History shows that few nations live forever. They die (or morph) for a lot of reasons.
