As a matter of fact, you got it wrong again, at least according to the study. What the average male seeks in a woman is looks, not money. And looks are what appeal to me more than money in a woman, also.

I don't know what type of sample, etc., was used, but it was done by some supposedly learned profs at a university. I would have to say that I personally believe in the validity of the study as it bears out what I have observed.

key word in both your posts(fhl) is "average"...who wants "average"? annaland is right...there are plenty of women who either have money or could care less whether the guys have it .security is a different issue. If a woman wants children then she wants a secure future for them....now thats very basic and normal.

I think the key is find a girl that's into health and fitness - a very rare find. You can do some amazing things if you stay fit and healthy. Look at Barry Bonds killing it in his 30s. Linebacker Romanowski was killing it in his 40s. Same goes for Jerry Rice. Wayne Gretzky. And don't forget Sly Stallone at 60 in Rocky Balboa.

Some examples I happen to have laying around as I'm in a derivative field of human behavior.

There is nothing more beautiful than a marriage of equals that rises above the garbage of the culture, wades through it, manipulating and using it's insane energy. women in their 20s tend not to be much into fitness, as their age/genes seem to be enough to keep their figure. none of the girls i know in their 20s work out regularly. (twice a month doesn't count.) but when women get into their 30s they become work-out monsters (some of them anyway).

oh as for barry and bill romanowski, they used steroids. that's why they could do things at an age most would have thought to be over-the-hill.

ha ha, this post is soooo PC. have you dated a chick in her 30s? they are scorned and bitter from past experiences with men. they spent their 20s focusing on their career and realized they're now over the hill, with wrinkles and having gained 15 pounds that they can't shed even with heavy exercise and consuming only fruit and bottled water. and they can't get over their breakup from 2 years ago or the fact that their best years passed them by.

but nonetheless they blame men for what happened to them.

If women select men for wealth and stability, and if we assume wealth is positively correlated with intelligence, then what we have here is de facto eugenics.

Society is self selecting genes for intelligence. We already pursue some low level form of Gattaca.

Men select women for beauty, which is to say signs of reproductive fitness. It has been well documented that animals tend to have favored indicators of reproductive fitness (think peacocks & tails).

We men zero in on legs, lips, symmetry of face, body shape and breasts. These are our indicators. The entire cosmetic/fashion industry in essence is built to enhance these female assets that we men have been biologically programmed to seek out as indicators.

Researchers have taken animals and exaggerated those indicators beyond what can be found in nature to see if animals still respond to them (think birds with unnaturally coloured plummage or unnaturally long tails etc). They found that they do - which also explains why we are attracted by women with comic book sized breasts, despite the fact that they cannot be found in nature.
