Host of “The Kelly File,” one of the cable-news channel’s most popular shows, Ms. Kelly is in active talks over her contract, which expires next July. Her profile has been rising during the presidential election cycle, in part thanks to a dust-up with Republican candidate Donald Trump.

Keeping Ms. Kelly is a priority for senior management, including Rupert Murdoch, chief executive of Fox News and co-executive chairman of its parent company, 21st Century Fox.

Asked if Ms. Kelly would stay at the channel, Mr. Murdoch said in an interview that she is important to the network and he hopes to get a contract signed “very soon,” but noted, “it’s up to her.”

Mr. Murdoch said he is kept abreast of the talks “every minute of the day.” While he doesn’t want to lose her, he said, “we have a deep bench of talent, many of whom would give their right arm for her spot.”

Mr. Murdoch and his family are major stakeholders in both 21st Century Fox and Wall Street Journal owner News Corp.

For the final year of her current deal, Ms. Kelly is set to receive about $15 million, people familiar with the matter said. The people said she is seeking an average annual salary north of $20 million for her next contract—which would put her on par with Fox host Bill O’Reilly.

Mr. Murdoch said money isn't an issue in the talks.

Ms. Kelly declined to comment...

I am confused. Why would someone that looks as hideous as Ailes, has an equally hideous personality, somehow imagines that a woman less than half his age, who makes millions of dollars, is even remotely interested in having sex with the guy?

It is sad that I have to add the "making millions" part because maybe at one time, a woman would somehow close her eyes and have an out of body experience and pretend to be interested in a man with one foot in the grave. Sadly that has been the reality of the last 100,000 years. But it is coming to an end.

Megyn Kelly is opening up about the Roger Ailes scandal in her forthcoming book, according to Vanity Fair journalist Sarah Ellison. The anchor has not spoken publicly about the allegations.

"Nobody knew if she was really going to address this but she's added a chapter to her book," Ellison said at Vanity Fair's New Establishment Summit on Tuesday. Kelly's memoir, Settle for More, is due out Nov. 15.

When legal firm Paul, Weiss was conducting a Fox News internal probe into harassment claims against Roger Ailes, the star anchor told investigators that Ailes made "unwanted sexual advances toward her," Gabriel Sherman reported in July for New York magazine.

"My book delves into how I put that into action, breaking into news and finding true love - with some tears and a lot of laughs along the way, and of course, my year in the crosshairs of Donald Trump," Kelly said in a May statement about her book....

Here is who Megyn Kelly is dreaming of having sex with. Now, on what planet do Ailes or Trump rationalize themselves?

Fox will be making a huge mistake to resign her. What is left of their audience now pretty much despises her. She has gone out of her way to target Trump unfairly and shield Hillary.

We saw that in bold relief in her spat with Newt. He challenged her to use the words "Bill Clinton sexual predator." She pointedly refused, then huffed that he had an anger management problem.

She is the worst kind of "feminist," using her looks to get a prime job, the whining that the guy who put her there made her "uncomfortable." She attacks Trump unfairly, then whines that she is in his crosshairs. She put herself there. If she wants to know what a personal attack is, she should attack Hillary. Of course, she is not about to do that. It would spoil her budding romance with the liberal media.

I view her future as kind of a litmus test for the post-Ailes Fox. They can try to hang on to their audience or they can retain her, but they can't have both.

Only the most disciplined of us are able to not abuse our looks for gain, financial or otherwise. We are wired by nature this way. So by definition it is natural.

I have no problem with beautiful women using their looks to advance themselves, feminists or not. But that is because I adore beauty for its own sake, regardless of my standing with her beauty. I also don't punish people for being true to themselves, as long as that action does not harm others. On the contrary, beautiful women make my day.

I see the world as a supreme act of creativity. Why would I want to suppress that beauty anywhere is beyond me.

That said, men understand women in this way all to well. That is in our nature too. When it goes beyond flirting and fun and games, is when it becomes ugly, like in Ailes' and Trump's case.

I don't care whether a woman is a feminist or not. I don't even care if she is lesbian. I can't help but be appreciative of their beauty. If they use it to make paper with numbers on it, God bless them.

I took AAA's post to mean using her looks and then complaining about the results of using her looks.

Jem . . . do you support Cruz on this?

Ted Cruz raises possibility of keeping seat vacant on Supreme Court

WASHINGTON Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is raising the possibility that Republicans would decline to fill the Supreme Court’s vacancy if Democrat Hillary Clinton is elected president.

Cruz is the second Republican to suggest that the GOP will simply block any Democratic nominee to replace the late Justice Antonin Scalia, who died in February. Arizona Sen. John McCain made a similar assertion earlier this month.

Speaking to reporters while campaigning for Republicans on Wednesday, Cruz was asked about Supreme Court vacancies.

“There will be plenty of time for debate on that issue, there is long historical precedent for a Supreme Court with fewer justices, just recently Justice (Stephen) Breyer observed that the vacancy is not impacting the ability of the court to do its job, that’s a debate that we are going to have,” Cruz said, in a quote later provided by his office.

Nitro is desperate to spin every single thing in a way that is negative to Trump, so of course he defends Megyn. I doubt he has ever watched her show, but whatever.

Just to dumb it down, if you get a high profile job based almost entirely on your looks, don't complain if people objectify you. That is being a lot more hypocritical than Newt.

If you have a high profile political talk show and you abuse your position to take unfair shots at one candidate, don't whine that people are being mean to the girl when they push back at you.

The fact we have to spell this stuff out is depressing. As misguided as Nitro seems to be, he is probably a lot better informed than most voters. Hillary and the media have done a remarkable job of changing the subject from the actual issues to Trump being a jerk. It's remarkably hypocritical since we have multiple accounts of what a monster she is. Her biggest supporters concede she is a liar, crook and has terrible judgment.
