In my younger days I lived in "the jungle" at Newport Beach, which was was home to some of the most insanely beautiful people male or female. My neighbor was like some greek god, but had the personality of mud and dead broke (we all were). However, we'd be hanging in front of our apt/duplex on 36th ST. and when girls drove by and caught a glimpse of him, they would literally circle the block a few times 'till they got up the nerve to stop and talk to him. This is shit that guys do! These girls were all 7's and above and no matter how stimulating I made the conversion, it was as if I wasn't there! It was an amazing study and gave way to one of my friends saying that "If it was raining dogs, a pussy would fall out of the sky and hit him in the head!".
 
My advice is that when it comes to relationships you should give lip service to the concept of equals and equal role in making choices. But in the end the man had best make the important decisions. The man is going to get blamed for the mistakes anyway, so the man may as well make the decisions.

I say this without any axe to grind. I am still married - not that it is a walk in the park.

I am just observing based on what is going on in my real estate practice. I do loan workouts as an attorney and short sales as a broker. Many of my clients are getting divorced.

You should see the ice that goes on in my office. The women acting like the man is a piece of crap and the man saying hey I make most of the money and she lost all our savings with this fricken house.

Its almost comical. Who knows maybe the men were the big part of the decision. The bottom line is the lack of well defined roles leads to neither party taking the blame. The defense mechanisms go up and the relationship is toast.

yes, yes...but you don't have to be born like this...that guy I mentioned earlier - he was just an average joe 1-2 years ago, no girl would notice him (or maybe he was just too young)...anyhow, he transformed himself, and did it very well...I think most guys could do the same...

Making a woman feel ordinary to score points? Um, ok. No doubt, that's how salesmen win their clients over. It's one thing to be coy once you know a woman is interested, but I doubt that such conduct actually gets her interested in the first place. I would think she first needs to feel good about you for one reason or another before you even register and can then go into manipulation mode (for reasons beyond my limited comprehension).

I'm certainly no expert in these matters, but here's what I think. Sexual chemistry (or physical attraction or whatever you want to call it) is either there or it isn't. Time well spent is pursuing a woman where it clearly, mutually and effortlessly exists. THAT is something worth pursuing. Thinking you're going to say something that will spark actual chemistry where it might not otherwise exist is perhaps wishful thinking. Spending time and/or money pursuing a woman who apparently doesn't give a shit is like adding to a losing position. Just because you can't have something doesn't necessarily mean it's worth having. It is certainly not a treadmill I'd want to be on. And having to work at merely getting a woman interested, beyond just getting to know each other, seems very much like a treadmill to nowhere.

It seems that these so-called "pickup artists" are too afraid to be themselves, believing they are not good enough. So when they fail, they can blame the "system" rather than accept responsibility for the outcome.

Fair enough. I'm not much of a sportsman of the above variety. But I would think that for her to care that you're ignoring her, she first has to know and care that you're alive. And once she knows and cares that you're alive, I would think there are better ways to proceed. If she cares that you're ignoring her, then isn't she already interested? And if you're going to be doing any feigning once mutual interest is established, shouldn't it be about the level of your availability to her rather than the level of your interest? I'm afraid I'm woefully unsophisticated.

At that point you lose the battle, nothing you can say afterwards to correct it. Remember deep down we are animals and our instinct and attraction has evolved over thousands of years, women unconsciously are looking for someone to mate with and an individual of character and strength, not a flipping WUSS !!!! Attraction is not a logical action or event, its a primal response.
