Woman lost 3.8 million (everything) with Madoff

Not sure why but the way that woman talks annoys me. She takes forever before she answers, why so many pauses ?

Anyways, people should take their responsabilities, again it is all about greed.

Imagine you invest in a found and when you ask them how their make their money so that you understand...at least generally they tell you..." We can't really explain it, but don't worry, we pay 12% annually."

Next thing you do is to write a 2 Millions dollar check like that woman did.

While there is some randomness (genetics and environment) in being infected with such a disease, lifestyle ultimately determines how fast you get there.

What kind of "lifestyle" leads to Parkinson's disease?

Don't do that crap. They trot out the saddest story they can find so people like you can make reasonable people sound like jerks. This should have constituted a 5% loss to this woman. Period. She shot the moon for risk free income and it destroyed her.

My parents and one brother were being told they were idiots when I was getting them out of the stock market in 2007-8. Parents near 70, 90% exposure to stock market, put there buy licensed professionals. Who would have put them right. Nothing illegal about what would have happened to them if they were still in that position. It would be sad and would have made their lives that much harder. Doesn't change the responsibility for the losses. Just like this poor woman.

Were your parents and brother diagnosed with a debilitating neurological disease that made them have to retire young?

If not, then apples and oranges.

Madoff and this woman's broker deserve the lion's share of blame (but especially Madoff).

No but I have. What are you going to do for me? I have a disease that doesn't allow me to function in the field I received a masters degree in. What I had worked very hard at to build a promising career was dead before I could get going. If this had hit me after I got a job I could have sued my employer or received my long term disability which would have made many more things possible than I am facing now. How about them apples and oranges.

I know who you are, a candy ass, bleeding heart, professor, I believe. I know a lot of people like you, who won't allow life to happen to people, at the expense of everyone's future.

Do I deserve your money to give me what I should rightly have had if life was fair?

You can feel sorry for me if you want, but I don't deserve your money. I got shit kicked. I am depressed and don't know what to do. I am fairly worthless to my wife and can't help with household expenses. My dreams of financial security are so far in the dumps that I have absolutely no hope of achieving anything of financial value to her before I die. (hopefully far into the future)

We live on a strict budget and within our means. I try to make good decisions in the markets to allow us to keep our money safe and hopefully gain eventually. These are the things I can do for my family and society. I expect to not be saddled with other peoples problems, especially when they are avoidable, just as I don't expect you to be saddle with me.

Who knows more about the situation this woman is in?!

At bottom, she is a victim of fraud. The whole point of fraud is to deceive. And apparently Madoff's fraudulent activities were good enough to get by for years.

He claimed to have a safe investment for others to invest in.

It's called due diligence. As I stated, a fool and his/her money. She was an obvious mark.

Plenty of wealthy individuals & professional investors quickly declined and said it was a ponzi when looking at Madoff, even when Madoff first opened his fund. Read the 2005 report submitted to SEC, Madoff being a ponzi scheme is no surprise whatsoever.

This lady is full of sh*t. First of all, how does an office manager save up two million dollars? Second of all, she claims that there were no clues about Ponzi Scheme. Either she is lying, or just that stupid & ignorant.

The people I do feel sorry for, are those whose FoF managers put money with Madoff while lying to the investors about the allocations.

I wonder what you would say if madoff was ripping people off by selling bunk CDs.

Same old scam the banksters been pulling for centuries. Compare it to the tech bubble, pretty much the same scam. Take crap, put it on a silver platter, make it look like the best thing since sliced bread, sell it to investors, make enourmous fees, then claim that you did not know any better & it was a big mistake.

Candy ass? No, you don't know me. But I think I know you, and I think you may need some help.

market surging. no one cares. that's her problem for being so stupid. maybe she will jump off a bridge and eliminate herself form the gene pool.
Wow, I'm surprised to see such a post from you.

Madoff is a complete sociopath and as scummy a human being as any of you people will ever see if you only knew what you were looking at.

Like I've said before, hanging is right about right for him ... and then they should conduct a witch hunt of his family ... that's where the money is.

Wow that's weak.

I'm rubber and your glue...

I thought you'd be better than stooping to that.
