Woman Files Suit Against Employer Who Fired Her Hours After Cancer Diagnosis

I can't remember who I was discussing this with in here. One of the lefties. In the conversation, I pointed out how a person with cancer who was fired because of their condition could sue on discrimination. Well, here's a perfect example.

I'm not sure of all the facts (the employer might have bad performance reviews or something on her) but the timing sure seems fishy. She's going to sue, and unless there is something else buried in the case, she should win big time.

You really haven't presented your side Tao. You made a definitive blanket statement. It's a complex issue with each state having different labor laws and the federal law. There isn't much protection for illness especially for a person with only 4 years on the job. That's not much time to build up sick leave and the federal law I think only allows 12(?) weeks of unpaid time off for serious illness per year. What happens after the 12 weeks, can the person be fired because of their illness?
