The entire Al Franken story is a warning to the Democrats and their media enablers (Washington Post, NYT, CNN, MSNBC, etc.) that there will be significant collateral damage if the left continues to "Roy Moore" (which is now a term) politicians on the right. Digging up decades old dirt on candidates in a coordinated operation can easily be done to politicians on the left as well.

This Franken story is a shot across the bow of the Democratic party warning them about the cost of continuing this type of behavior in the future. Shall we really explore Biden, Gore, and Bill Clinton sexual conduct in more detail while we are at it. Especially since Biden is now the front-runner for the Democratic 2020 nomination. How about the many Democratic members of Congress with divorce records including claims of spousal and sexual abuse - let's open a few of those files. Stilted girlfriends with vile stories of conduct while the Democratic Congressman was married - that will make great mainstream smut media. Do the Democrats really want to escalate this arms race of sending investigators, reporters, and digging through court records?

I believe that you need to look at the Franken allegations in context of current events. This woman had this picture for years and could have come out at any time with her assertions. However she came out now, shortly after the Roy Moore story breaking -- driven by the Washington Post.

I have already stated that IMO the allegations against Franken hold no water -- they were merely put forward now as a warning from the political right to the left (and their media enablers) to constrain their behavior because what comes around goes around -- and there are plenty of politicians on both sides of the aisle in D.C. with dirt in their closets.

Honestly I would not want the whole of my character based upon one picture of me in the same place with a playmate. Men acting like adolescent fools around a pair of titties is not exactly earth shattering. Certainly will be from this point forward, but you know what, he admits it was foolish so I'll give him a pass. Now the other allegations are a bit more problematic. The groping and attack style kissing is really rather serious. This is the essence of using ones power and authority over another person. Now he has said, and I quote, “While I don't remember the rehearsal for the skit as Leeann does", does is some way acknowledge the incident, but I wonder if the left would be so quick to be forgiving if a republican said that in a similar occurrence. Actually, I don't wonder at all, they would not. Whole thing is one hot mess and suspect we're only at the beginning.

Do you think Wapo or NYT would care? Did you forget that NYT paid the Breitbart editor for the Clinton Cash book? They broke the email server story, they bought the Whitewater story to national spotlight. There is no coordinated 'liberal' media as you think, if WaPo or NYT get another scoop on a Republican or a Democrat, they will publish it. NYT broke the Weinstein story, who were they warning then? I am defending Franken based on evidence - he is not touching her and now we know that she wasn't even asleep as she claimed.

Trump on the other hand didn't deny making those claims, numerous woman have accused him, many have went to court and we have videos to prove what a creepy perv the guy is. And all that compared to a staged picture? False equivalence.
