If you have never met someone like this, you should (but don't bring any money at all). In the 1980's I ran into a fellow that was an incredible salesman and conman. He is still out and about in BC last I heard. As he talked to me, I eventually repeated over and over and over in my head - he is lying to me RIGHT NOW, he CAN NOT tell the truth. He purposely mis-spells his name and allows interviewers to pronounce his name and sometime corrects them to mis-pronounce it. I don't understand this type of being at all.

In spite of it all, there is a irrational part of me that he can reach and push buttons. They are absolutely incredible salespeople. I watched this fellow ruin many lives many times. Each time, you got the impression that he was a good guy and that this time it would all work out well and the other times were just flukes. The policeman that interviewed me said that the reason that he was still walking around was that it was very difficult to prove intent.

Yeah, that's compelling. He looks like a monkey. What a moron. I hope some attorney get a thorn in his ass and goes after him for the restitution. His probation-status is meaningless.
 
I never actually worked with Jordan Belfort himself, but when the feds shutdown Stratton Oakmont (his firm) most of the guys came over to the firm I was working at (still in operation BTW) and some of them went with Victor Chan to start Duke & CO (was shut down quickly).

Smile and dial all day long on sales floors full of 100+ guys. Fist fights at least once a week, bumps in the bathroom stalls etc. Most guys with barely a H.S. diploma, a Dodge Viper, still living with their parent's. But it was a great learning experience. I was lucky enough to get on a good team (manager was ex-Lehman Bros.) with amazing sales talent. Once I took those skills to a bulge bracket firm it was like shooting fish in a barrel.

I don't go to the movies, but I can't wait until this comes out on netflix.

LOL. No, but I heard somebody(J.G.) from VTrader did his own "wolf" imitation and got into some serious trouble himself.
 
I heard one critic said he saw the movie at a theater near Wall Street and was a little freaked by the audience reaction. The movie doesn't glorify the depravity of *some* Wall street traders, but for some reason the audience seemed to think it was and was cheering at inappropriate times. Maybe this movie is more accurate than we'd like to think???
