Trump sometimes runs his businesses in an unethical fashion and makes a lot of absurd promises and statements in public. He's not adverse to taking a business bankrupt to start again, and doesn't care often how it impacts shareholders,employees, or suppliers. Recently, he seems xenophobic in nature and may have some psychopathic qualities. That's a lot of red flags.
He can certainly be better then George Bush. Almost anybody could be. Obama may not be well liked by some on here, but he did at a minimum somewhat restore the US image on the international stage. He was a respectable head of state if not effective on some projects ( I don't follow it close enough to know ). You needed that after Bush who was a complete buffoon that nobody respected outside of the US. I suspect at a minimum Clinton would provide the same.
I'd say Trump might be ok if his worst policies get blocked. His timing is quite lucky, whomever gets elected inherits a US economy that is doing far better then 8 years ago. That helps your image a lot with Americans. I'd like to think a business guy would be good for your economy, but his statements on trade deals are absurd at this point. There are some who say a Trump victory would guarantee a recession in the US short term and stock markets will deeply correct.
The world hopes that American political checks and balances will keep Trump in check if he truly goes off the deep end in terms of a fascist type leadership. I don't think he'll be elected, but George W. got elected somehow which was a rather surreal thing for Canadians to witness.
