By simple logic, without any qualification, that could be a true statement. However it certainly misstates what Robert Mueller said. Mueller said they didn't try to find him guilty -- which is not something Mueller would do in any case-- nor did they even consider trying to indict him, which is something, under other circumstances, Mueller might have reasonably tried to do. What they did do in fact was to report what they determined to be correct facts, leaving as it were the questions of indictment and guilt to others.
I was surprised that Mueller seemed hazy on Fusion GPS. Especially since Mueller had worked closely with Steele in the past with regard the the FIFA corruption investigation. However perhaps it is not as odd as it seems because the Steele white paper on Trump's activities in Russia had been a matter of interest well before Mueller took over the investigation, and if indeed Mueller made any significant use of Steele'S report it is not evident in the unredacted parts of Mueller report.Piezoe maybe you can google around a little and see if you can find some info on FusionGPS and send it to Mueller just to help him out a bit.
Did you notice that at least one House member referred to Simpson as a DNC "operative." Which is a rather loaded and incorrect statement of his role. He owns his own research firm and his firm was contracted by the DNC to finish a report that Simpson's firm had already began preparing under an individual Republican's sponsorship. Simpson was not a DNC employee. It was Simpson that hired his friend Steele, a British Russian expert retired from the British intelligence agency to assist with the legwork. It was both Simpson and Steele that went to the FBI when they became alarmed at what they had turned up. But that was long before Mueller's involvement.
Witch-hunter was unable to produce and do the deed after two years and millions of dollars. This was all about getting Trump. PERIOD. Trump was guilty of winning the presidency without the swamp's and the clinton machine's approval. As discussed many times, Weisman was running the show which meant that you would see plenty of sideplayers locked up and doors kicked in but it would be a complete clown show if any complexity of legal strategy was required.
Viewers were referred to the Enron Case, the Hells Angel's Case, the Anthrax Case, and Lehman brothers. All cases where ballbusting arrests and locking up people - by Weisman influencing Mueller- then the cases later overturned on appeal. Mueller 101.

Horowitz report coming along at some point- probably fall now. It was moved out because Steele Flipped and his contact over at the State Department flipped so it has extended the investigtion- but it is coming. Does it seem odd to anyone else here that a team of investigators who produced so many indictments and convictions and guilty pleas, and helped recover over 40 million in I'll gotten gains, would be described by anyone as "unable to produce?" But oh well, I guess there are nuts in every society.
"Operative" imply "employee." He was doing dirty work for both the dnc and the clinton campaign who were jointly funding it, ALONG WITH THE FBI which agreed to participate in future funding, but no funds were actually dispersed because the whole scheme blew up before it was implemented.
The notion that simpson and steele went to the fbi because they were alarmed at what turned up is complete spin. Nellie Ohr worked at GPS and updated Bruce Ohr at every step of the way and Ohr was meeting with Steele all along. The FBI was working with them to develop dirt, then planting the dirt at other sources, and using those "sources" which they planted as a basis for seeking FISA warrants. So spare me the spin. Page and Baker have already flipped and confirmed all this anyway. Most likely they will flip Steele too. Horowitz and Huber will take the lid off all of this. As will Trump, who has declassified all the relevent documents but Barr is still reviewing them to see what needs to be redacted. MORE TO COME.

This is about trying to bring Trump down. I have said from the beginning that Mueller would not be able to make the big kill, so would compensate for that by trying to make up for it in volume by making all sorts of side prosecutions.

Mueller could go into Camp Clinton any day of the week and find hundreds of people to prosecute on side charges- with out even getting to Hillary. But his witch-hunt did not take him there. It was about bringing Trump down, and still is for those dead-enders who are still working it.

It became clear today that Mueller was profoundly unfamiliar with the contents of the report bearing his name and was principal investigator in name alone.
Much of the befuddlement exhibited by Mr. Mueller was an act designed to consume most of the 5 minutes granted to each member for questioning. Some of it appeared to be real however.
