Is this the same CDC you're telling us to not listen to in the other thread in regards to Omicron? The same CDC that told us masking didn't help?
I was merely making it clear the CDC statement is based on a small data set of 43 cases of Omicron in the U.S. The CDC stated this very directly -- yet your Twitter news source does not reflect their full statement.
As outlined in the CDC commentary this situation will change as more Omicron cases occur in the U.S. -- unlike other countries we have fewer Omicron cases and no hospitalizations yet (as of later last week).
So it will change? Like when the CDC said masks wouldn't protect us, and then they changed their mind?

He should stick with his 1619 criticism podcasts seeing that he claims to be an "economic historian" -- proper public health policy obviously is not his strength.

Maybe you need to carefully read what they stated at the time.... early in 2020 N95 masks were needed by medical personal and generally people should not be using N95 masks since most people do not know how a apply or utilize them properly. On top of this many N95 masks are vented with a exhalation value which means they won't provide much protection at all when used incorrectly.
Early in 2020 the rush for N95 masks was taking masks away from medical workers who critically need them -- hence coupled with the application and venting issues the N95 masks don't help among the general population -- they were stating these N95 masks were not recommended for the general population.
This early advice was also occurring at a time when it was not clear the mechanism of spread was via aerosol particles -- science that was confirmed in 2020 after research.
