Here's the thing about a Chess game: It's run by whoever can take control of the center of the board. The world is just about that uncomplicated.
 
I'm in Texas nowadays. In all honesty I wouldn't be uncomfortable with secession. We are a net exporter of food and energy. In courts, the loser pays all the costs in Texas so we already don't have the shitty ongoing oppression from lawyer parasites. We should get our fair share of the military stuff though: a few stealths, carriers, battleships, tanks, enough so invasion would be expensive for the US. The trouble is Texans don't have sense enough to get rid of the War on Drugs, the US would let the cartels take over like in Mexico then come and get their food and energy on the cheap.
