Winning $20 M Won't Make You Happy

So I don't know. Someone here said happiness has to come from within. I'm gonna have to go with that I guess. It does come from within. Its not the money, its the person.

One person has money is happy
One person has money is unhappy
One person is poor and is happy
One person is poor and is unhappy.

All of the above scenarios are real, can be real. Is it the money or the person? It’s inside each and every one of us. Just like everything it ebbs and flows, but if you practice gratitude, serving your brothers and sisters, having a purpose bigger than the ugly mug in the mirror. It can flow more than it ebbs.

I don't know how rich @volpri is but for most people 20MM is like 10 lifetimes worth of earnings. The idea that someone would trade their entire life's work for one single day with a loved one is frankly ludicrous. It is just feel-good nonsense.

Do you have children? Have some empathy.

Studies compiled by MIT have shown that people whose brains immediately zero in on and subsequently react to the semantics of a statement, be it oral or written, are more likely to earn less than their peers over their earnings lifetime.

I read an article once about lottery winners and the majority were the same or less happy when interviewed down the road. Everyone has something that drives them. When you get thrown into wealth instantly it makes your lose your purpose. Losing your purpose in life regardless of net worth is the source of unhappiness. Life becomes boring when you can afford anything you want. That is why so many wealthy people are underneath deeply unhappy.

My network of friends has a large disparity of income and wealth. From
20k income to low 7 figures. You would think the wealthy ones are more happy but from my experiences they are not. More money equals more problems once you get past a certain point. You think a poor person worries about a bank collapsing and their deposit not being insured ? Yet a wealthy person has to figure out ways to protect their wealth which creates more stress. Maybe my personal experience is an analomy.

So true. If you see around there are so many wealthy celebrities killed themselves in the past and will be killing themselves in the future as well while they still have millions in the bank.

So if i wont pay my entire life's work to see a loved one for just one more day, I have no empathy? Fuck off. If you would do such you are a moron, if not you are a hypocrite or a liar for accusing me. Oh I thought of a 4th option, maybe you have so little savings in the world that this deal might actually make sense for you LOL.

I'm only on this thread for entertainment, sometimes I'm in a mood to call out BS when I see it. I don't have some sort of semantic tourette's if that's what you're implying. Also, citation needed.

No it’s about writing something about someone else’s situation and saying such a moronic thing. And I guess you don’t have kids. No worries bud. Have great day.

I'm not the one who brought someone else's kid into this thread, maybe you should aim your armchair psychoanalyzing in the proper direction.
