Windows XP: Home or Pro?

There are certain applications that don't seem to work with the Home Edition but they do in the Pro Edition. So far I was not able to figure out why. I have asked our technical people but they were not able to find out why something does not work in the home edition and does work in the pro edition.
 
I have a P3 450 that runs XP. The start up
is very slow, but otherwise ok when running
office apps. Your P2 will be very slow based
on the projection.

To extend the life of your P2, you may want
to consider a cpu upgrade like something
make by powerleap (not affliated).
 
Anybody have experience registering two machines, i.e. desktop and laptop, simultaneously on one copy of XP Pro? According to the license only one machine is permitted but ...

I just bought a laptop that came with XP Home in Chinese - dealers here in Taiwan don't have English versions available. I would just like to load my English XP Pro on both without having to buy another software just for the laptop. Do I really have to pony up or is there an alternative?

One of the downside hassles of living here. :(

You might have a shot at getting a license for an English version. I think you can call World Wide Fullfillment, search on that title on Microsoft.com.

Actually 256 is the minimum you want to run XP :) .
The P3 I have has 384M.

It is also increasingly hard to get PC100 memory
in my area. The lowest speed memory most
dealers carry is PC133, and older mobos are
not compatible with PC133.

If you are upgrading that many things, it is
probably cheaper to get a new PC.
