I thought about something like this too.
My fear is these cheap and thin/lightweight tablets don't have enough computational power. Sure you don't need anything fancy. But some have atom processors and not a lot of ram. Some of those desktop trading software use quite a bit. Also, looking at charts, options chain, portfolio and watchlist will be hard on a small screen. I normally like to see all at once and would hate to sacrifice for mobility by doing maximizing and minimizing of windows.
Then there is the issue of trading over wifi... Well, maybe a VPN helps somewhat in that area.. but still. No trading in a starbucks wifi for sure. Unless its a special brokerage account with very small amounts of play money then I wouldn't mind.
Ultimately, this is why I'll just use the mobile/tablet specific apps if available for ipad/iphone when on the go. Its probably already the working compromise. I'm not sure running the desktop version on a fully fledged windows tablet will provide any more advantage. For me, multiple screens is a must because there are too much info happening and I need to see it all. Otherwise, there are no differences to a normal mobile or tablet software.
