Well, before I started uninstalling and reinstalling things I figured I'd try a VGA cord. Lo and behold it worked fine. I dug up a new HDMI cord and put that on and all seems well, at least tonight. So after starting a MSFT, WIN 10 hate fest it looks like it is most likely a HDMI cord gone bad. I haven't had that happen before, but I hope that is the problem.

Glad you've found a temporary fix, but keep a mental note of your install date because I recall that after 30 days you can't switch back to Windows 7. Luckily for me, it only took 2-3 days for problems to appear, so I never faced that dilemma.
