WINDOWS 10

So far I am ok with Windows 10 on 2 of my machines. There are still issues with apps that are blurry on my high resolution displays but there are now ways around it...(finally)

Definitely it is slow to run a 4k screen on even top of the line Pluggable usb3.0-->DP adapters. I only use this solution to display spreadsheets that update every 10 seconds or rather static data that does not change much and hence refresh rates are not a concern

I'm curious how many monitors you're using on that pc. Also if you would prefer w7 if you didn't have monitor issues with w7. Also interested in your thoughts on whether usb has enough throughput to drive 4k monitors without slowing cursor movement or other reasons it could be inadvisable to consider usb solutions.

So can we conclude you won't invent win 10 stories anymore? That would indeed be awesome.

Some incredible things have happened to my machine and there are some very interesting things to think about to make an intelligent decision.

First, I set two "traps" in my previous post and to my small annoyance they have both disappeared.

My hacked email account was fixed after 3 years of my monitoring it. That happened the next day after my post where I deliberately the placed my tripwire. The hack started on a carribean cruise where when after I checked my email again at home, I noticed it was acting strangely (the biggest method of fighting bad software is to know what good software looks like and always be slightly paranoid => a learned response. Spooks will understand this along with superb traders). The usual fix of changing passwords on the cruise didn't work and I realized that the email certificate had been fiddled with (I didn't know what it might mean at the time). It took me a while to realize that the stuxnet attack might be involved but I was on the alert for it after thinking a bit about stuxnet. Calls to my service provider were answered by nice people who didn't understand and considered me paranoid and so I used that email account to get my hacker to jump through hoops for 3 years. Fixed one day later - coincidence? Maybe. I guess playtime is over for that counter-hack. Darn it!

To the microsoft (AKA NSA) or hacker (?) that repaired my machine - a sincere thankyou and I look forward to our next encounter. ( The second fix I mentioned with google chrome uncovered a police investigation which made perfect sense and the ip address disappeared right after I reported it to Chrome. I will keep mum on it since to much information trains the other side and I am not afraid of either side. I do have to keep my best methods secret however.) I may have set more tripwires however. Fear!

The really odd thing is that I have been unable to catch the ad attacks again. They have completely disappeared, now that I am setup up to seek them out. In addition, the windows update force window has disappeared on my machine so I went ahead and updated my system with the windows normal update process. ( My reasoning, BTW, is that if there is ever a massive class action, I want a clean record so I can be part of it by doing reasonable actions. Some key friends are fighting it tooth and nail but I say lets think about this a bit more). So the attack vector ( which is really serious BTW and I need to think more on - who to hold responsible when 3 parties contribute? Those interested can google "Angler attack kit" - a very serious threat IMO). To whoever fixed my windows update issue and the ad issue - thankyou sincerely. All any customer wants is a machine that they don't have to fix every day and to do their legitimate work.

So my update is I have installed the patches which suddenly work (paranoid note to self - do some research to see if the "technician patch error link above" was really a sign that the entire windows update function is compromised? Hopefully not but given the state of "military intelligence" and coverups of government screwups - maybe?). I am still on windows 7 and will not go to windows 10 until I see 3 years of solid performance (if I have the choice). My machine appears to be operating completely better for the first time in 3 years. Thanks to who ever did that for me.

I have not yet made my final decision but there does appear to be some hope for windows. Now why is there a crazy man attacking me on posts suddenly? Is he a stuxnet hacker? Is he from the government - here to help? Is he just a crazy man?(Note to Mr. Gates. Please send me a cheque for 10000 dollars and I will only write good things about windows for the rest of my life - you have the location, address and you know I am honorable. I will not tell anyone about the cheque as long as it doesn't bounce.) Like a good trade, I need a bit more information before I place my bet. To prevent market manipulation caused by my criticism of my experience and to prevent legal action by one crazy man (who BTW seems not to understand trading or the law) I will report my thoughts after this earnings report. Therefore Mr Gates. Time is of the essence (crazy man - that is a legal phrase)

I hope to have more fun playing and thinking ( and trading - new year high last week using long positions). Sorry for the length of the post. Hopefully it was entertaining.

Those who think I am the crazy man check out some of my past posts as to predictions made and did they come true. Nobody can win all the time but throw enough spaghetti against the wall and some will stick! LOL.

The curious thing about some Microsoft users is the way they worship that company like a God. Sad. When did love me love my operating system become the way of the dealing with the world?

For those who care to research the matter and decide for themselves - The post above clearly states it will not be able to be turned off. Further more Win 10 updates will not be able to be controlled anymore and will be free to users. It is a tiny registry upgrade step from disable to enable. The worst thing IMO is that logging keystrokes will eventually be captured by other entities unknown to Microsoft or the users. IMO there is no legitimate reason to record every keystroke for any technology.

I am wondering what companies are going to do about the forced upgrade since suppliers have told me that there is other stuff going on behind the scenes as well. One asked me what ever happened to democracy and choice? Remember that famous ad from Apple so many years ago?

A question - does your computer work for you or someone else?

A test - there is a Get Win 10 flag on my taskbar. I stopped task GWX.exe and then hovered over it. It disappeared. I have control of my own computer - or do I?

It will startup again on it's own and removing it is v complex but basically start, control panel, programs and features, view installed updates (hidden in upper left corner), scroll thru the list and select the following kb's. This list includes other malware that serves no useful purpose.

288 2822
302 2345
303 5583
306 8708
307 5249
308 0149

After they've been removed you have to run windows update. These updates will reappear as new. The menu for hiding them from future updates is deviously concealed behind a right click menu, as if it wasn't already difficult getting this far. Right click on each kb and a popup menu will enable you to select hide update.

I run 10 on my client work PC, but 7 professional 64x will stay on the trading PC.

Just got it last week when I installed a new HDD. It has not been buggy for me, it does boot faster and it is more intuitive to use. But honestly, it just looks different. I agree completely about MS putting all their efforts into commercial consumer tracking instead of improving upon an arcane OS. MS sorely needs to upgrade Disk Management. I mean, even with a GPT partition, W10 still won't recognize more than 2 TB. I had to download an Acronis Virtual Disk Driver in order to use all of my 4 TB on the new internal HDD.

And some smart software management in terms of resolving legacy program conflicts would be nice. Because the legacy Microsoft programs like Office have some of the worst conficts - especially with Outlook.

Are you only here to put up lies? You already troll all the TA forums and now you also pollute the technical forums with your lies. Where are your secret key loggers and voice recorders? I don't see them.

How do you like w10's key logger and voice recorder?

Maybe he is referring to Cortana or other apps coming with Win 10 that offer those customer experience improvements which might not be so easy to get rid of even for non-subscribers. I just encountered those stories searching Web but cannot provide more details since I am not interested in using Win 10 now. I think that Win 10 EULA is self explanatory in regards to privacy expectations for the end user. The upside is that Win 10 is free.
