Anybody had the nerve to install it yet?
Did your IB standalone software remain on your desktop o.k.?
Is your printer working correctly after installing?
Was it easy to understand how to install?
Were there any notable problems?
Have you turned your computer completely off and back on since you installed?

Did it mess anything up?

Kinda scary to think that Microsoft can pull this off CORRECTLY.
 
The best thing I can say about windows 10 is that the rollback procedure works. I installed it and my computer kept locking up. I kept it for two or three hours then rolled back to windows 7. I might try again in six months or so but as it is right now I can't use it. I never got to the point I even tried to use my printer or open my trading software.
 
I've been a Windows/PC guy till the beginning of time -- but my next computer will most likely be an Apple MacBook Pro or Apple iMac.

Windows kind of lost me (as with most people) when Windows 8 came out.
 
Trading on the 1st of my computers to upgrade to Win 10 and no problems. Install was easy. No complaints, but if I have any issues I will post. Using TWS on it.
 
Outside of being the "latest 'n greatest" I'm trying to figure out what is the point of Windows 10?! Been happily using Win7 for years, reliable, very stable, does everything I need, and Microsoft will be supporting it for many more years. So does anyone have a compelling reason to bother upgrading to a brand new (yikes!) Microsoft operating system? Thanks.
 
Why would anyone buy anything Windows is beyond me. I agree that Windows 7 was the best Windows ever. I also like the Surface Pro 3 (the SP is a winner - something I would have expected from Apple not MSFT), but you can run Linux on those I believe.

If you have to run windows, you can do it in a VM (get a computer with 16GB/(8) of RAM and at least 4 cores).

Microsoft should:

1) Not charge for the OS and open source it.
2) Not charge for its development tools.

Then it might compete with linux. Otherwise, Microsoft is the next Sun Microsystems.

My computer is over 5 years old. Is Win 10 going to be too heavy for it? I had an old laptop from the XP days, and it ran Ubuntu great. At least until Ubuntu 10.4, then it ran really slow, fan firing up all the time, etc. For the laptop that's fine because it's a hobby computer, but the Win is my main computer and would really like to avoid an OS that is too much for it.

Thank you for the link, my machine meets it. But I'm always suspicious, here's an example:
  • RAM:

    1 gigabyte (GB) for 32-bit or 2 GB for 64-bit
They can say 1 or 2 GB is the minimum, but they don't say how well that will run. Every laptop I've bought (well, in all truth that's only 3) had the Windows minimum of RAM, but always needed at least twice that to get beyond the 'underwater' feel.

Good points, brother Magna.

You say that "Microsoft will be supporting it (Windows 7) for many more years".
Can you remember how long Microsoft has committed to support for Windows 7?
