That benediction by Lowery is not a good way to start the presidency.
Here's the entire passage, and it's not only offensive to whites:
âWe ask you to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to give back, when brown can stick around, when yellow will be mellow, when the red man can get ahead, man, and when white will embrace what is right.â
So blacks shouldn't be asked to give back, and others should? He singles out whites to embrace what is right, as if to suggest they don't right now? Those are certainly awkward references to Asians and Hispanics.
