Will they please stop publishing great books!

There are many great trading books out there but I believe the best one is the one you write with your own blood and money.

If you can afford the time and money to figure the market out yourself and figure out yourself as well you will have the best recipe for success. Unfortunately you cannot download the mind of a champion like a computer file. The information must be assimilated step by step over time to fit your own unique personal talents and abilities.

I remember an interview with Rich Dennis years ago and he said he basically figured trading out by himself and considered that the best approach.

Can you recommend some inspirational works that would apply to trading? Someone posted a title a while back that sounded like it might be good...the only part of the title I can remember is "Training something" or "something Training".

I am not sure what trading book you are referring to. I find very little inspirational trading stories in trading books. However, there are lots of books out there that are inspirational.

I guess what people are seeking when they seek inspirational trading books is assurance that if they give themselves completely to this art, that it is not in vain. I can guarantee you that it is not in vain for me, but I cannot guarantee that it is not in vain for you. I hope you understand what I mean by that.

FWIW, I have found these books inspirational, each in their own special way. I have a huge list but these are probably the most accesssible. Don't worry about the titles:

1) Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance.

2) Zen in the Art of Archery, and The Inner game of Tennis.

3) Ann Frank: The Diary of a young girl.

4) Deep Survival: Who Lives, Who Dies, and Why.

The list is endless and these are just a few that "inspire" me. To be human is to struggle. I have come to the conclusion that some of us have to scratch and crawl with tooth and nail to make it. Some of us get lucky and make it with little or no talent and very little sweat, and some of us have been blessed with talent and dedication and luck. The common denominator in all of these people is that they can handle self doubt and still push forward somehow in the face of extraordinary odds against them, all the while honing their craft. I am not sure you can get that kind of "inspiration" from a book...

The struggle is not the hard part. Rather, it is the integrity that you keep with yourself and others as you go through that journey that defines you.

Once again nitro, I gotta say that I look forward to coming back to this thread in the future when I actually have the time to do some "leisure" reading. So thanks again.

It would be great if other inquiring minds would post some more of their readings as well. I'd certainly post some, but lately, my reading list is only comprised by a mass quantity of tech books. I don't think they'd be considered in scope here.
