This may explain the "run up" to 1,200 before the plunge back to 1,000 or lower:

From Investopedia.com, definition of "window dressing"

"What Does Window Dressing Mean?

A strategy used by mutual fund and portfolio managers near the year or quarter end to improve the appearance of the portfolio/fund performance before presenting it to clients or shareholders. To window dress, the fund manager will sell stocks with large losses and purchase high flying stocks near the end of the quarter. These securities are then reported as part of the fund's holdings."

Certainly looks like it so far this week, with today being the last day of the quarter.

lol? trying to find reasons to stay short? Don't they call that "wishful thinking"?

Highest daily volume in the last month for most of the major ETFs (SPY, QQQQ, etc.) while everything spiked higher then closed lower.

Sorry, bulls, but that's doesn't help your case...

fumes is plenty with the fed offering to print until the end of the world. dudley just spoke out this morning and said it again "further action is likely warranted". qe2 all the way, market could care less about your (or anyone else's) technicals.
