Heh, the parliamentary system is all about putting power in the hands of political parties.

Anyway, as a practical matter, these situations are about like the electoral college issue. People get all fired up but for better or worse it requires a constitutional amendment which is not going to happen. We have heard it all before. If dems put the same amount of effort into finding a strong candidate as eliminating the electoral college would require, they would be winning the electoral college. Ditto for the incompetence issue with Joe. If dems had put the same amount of effort into finding a strong candidate as coming up with an amendment to recall/remove/dispose of him would require they could would a candidate that is not a dufus who needed to removed.

And to move to a parliamentary system, well, let's just say that would take LOTS of work so that is sort of a spinning your wheels exercise.

The dems inflicted Joe and Kamala on to the country and now they are destroying the country. It is what you wanted even though you were warned. Now more and more of them want him out. We are all screwed. And other countries are screwed too. A vote for Biden was a vote to give Putin a green light. Now Ukraine is becoming a parking lot. You dems did that.

The parliamentary system relies on forming a government. Many parliamentary governments are formed by multiple parties. Parliamentary systems break the two party system and marginalize extremists. That is certainly better than our current political environment considering the senate is completely broken. No doubt I’m spinning my wheels (right now) but so is the rest of the country because our federal government is broken and looking like it is going to further break. We seem to be heading to a breaking point with the electoral college and electors whether through the Supreme Court or the constant undermining and attacks from your side. We are probably at a point in history as close to breaking up as a country as we were prior to the civil war. I know that’s quite a claim but the internet is a “quiet riot” and there is a lot more fracturing beneath the surface than is recognized.

Sure, tell that to Macron. His party just lost the majority and now he has to cobble together a government from both the far left and far right. And the governments often get rolled over every six months as the crazy mix agrees along with the fact that even if you get a majority party elected the majority may roll the government over a few times as well- without even getting to the issue of other parties.

And Scholtz in Germany formed his government by allying with the green party loons because he had no choice. No the loons have disproportionate power when we/they need it the least.

Instead, you should put more work into just getting better candidates.

For example, your heartburn over the electoral college is just related to the fact that Hillary did not win the electoral college. She was a shit candidate. If she had not been lazy and campaigned in wisconsin etc she would have gotten both the popular and the electoral. If she had won, you would not give two hoots about whether there was an electoral college or not. Everything would look fine. Get a better candidate.

Ditto for all your bloviating about changing to a parliamentary system. Why are you having such a great need to do that. Oh, I see. Because our system does not allow us to easily remove shit candidated that you elected- ie. Biden and Harris. Root cause: Did not get quality candidates. No to everything in this post. First I am for changing the entire federal government prior to Trump or Biden, I am also an advocate of eliminating the filibuster prior to the last presidents. Our system is actively cracking and has been for quite some time.
