Will my long option be excercised automatically at IB?

My option excercised, so I was long the underlying going into the open. I closed the position ~5 min after open myself. Not sure what would have happened if i didnt (also not sure how IB would address the issue of myself and them putting in the sell order in at once so I would be short)

In any case, actually made alittle of change on this snafu due to the positive open, so lucky me.
 
I'm glad to hear it worked out okay. In the future be sure to either sell any ITM options you don't want exercised, or lapse them (inform the broker not to auto exercise). In IB this is done using the same screen you exercise options with.
 
I wasnt aware you could automatically lapse the option. I found it playing around with the features on TWS this weekend. You can be sure I'll either close out my positions or lapse them in the future, makes for a stressful weekend trying to read up on current events hoping against a gap down.
